VINTAGE & PRE-OWNED CONDITION
The Vintage Eye specialises in vintage, Mid-Century and quality pre-owned furniture. Every piece has its own history and, naturally, may show signs of previous use.
Age-related wear such as light scratches, marks, fading, discolouration, patina, small repairs and other imperfections should be considered part of purchasing vintage furniture. These characteristics often contribute to the individuality and character of the piece and should not necessarily be considered faults.
We make every effort to provide clear photographs and an accurate description of each item. Significant damage or noticeable defects known to us will generally be mentioned or photographed. However, minor imperfections can sometimes be missed.
Please examine all listing photographs carefully, as the photographs form part of the description and condition report.
If condition is particularly important to you, please contact us before purchasing. Additional photographs and video inspections are available on request, and customers are welcome to inspect items at our warehouse during our advertised inspection hours.
PLEASE CHOOSE CAREFULLY
The Vintage Eye does not offer refunds or exchanges simply because you change your mind after purchasing.
This includes situations where you decide that the style, colour, size or appearance is no longer suitable for you.
This does not affect any rights you may have under Australian Consumer Law.

CHECK YOUR MEASUREMENTS BEFORE ORDERING
Furniture can often appear smaller or larger in photographs than it does in person.
Before placing an order, please check the dimensions of the item against your available space. You should also check the complete delivery path, including entrances, doorways, corridors, stairways, lifts, gates and other restricted areas.
If an item cannot be brought into the property because of insufficient access, this does not constitute grounds for a change-of-mind refund.
Dimensions shown in our listings are approximate and are intended to assist with purchasing decisions. Small variations may occur due to the shape, construction and method used to measure vintage furniture.
PHOTOGRAPHY, COLOUR & DISPLAY ITEMS
We photograph our furniture to give customers the clearest possible representation of each piece. However, colours, timber tones and fabric shades may vary slightly between the photographs and the actual item due to lighting, photography and individual screen or device settings.
Artwork, cushions, plants, lamps, decorative pieces and other styling accessories appearing in photographs are not included with the furniture unless specifically stated in the product listing.
DESIGNER, MAKER & ORIGIN INFORMATION
We take care when researching the history, manufacturer, designer and approximate era of our furniture.
Our research may be based on labels, stamps, construction methods, design features, provenance and comparison with known examples. Vintage furniture does not always retain its original labels, documentation or purchase records.
Where definitive documentation is unavailable, any attribution is provided in good faith based on the information reasonably available to us and should not be treated as formal authentication or certification.
If documented provenance or verified authenticity is particularly important to your purchase, please contact us before ordering.
SAFE HANDLING & USE
Many vintage pieces were manufactured decades ago and may no longer have their original assembly, installation or safety instructions.
Customers are responsible for ensuring furniture is appropriately transported, assembled, installed and used after delivery.
Tall cabinets, bookcases, wall units, shelving and other furniture capable of tipping should be properly secured where appropriate. We recommend seeking professional assistance when installation, wall fixing or assembly is required.
Please also consider the appropriate weight capacity of shelves, cabinets and storage units and avoid excessive loading.
DELIVERY & TRANSPORT
The Vintage Eye can assist customers with Melbourne and interstate delivery arrangements.
Where an independent removalist, courier or transport provider is used, customers should inspect their furniture promptly upon delivery and raise any transport-related concerns immediately.
Delivery arrangements may also be subject to the transport provider’s applicable terms and conditions.
